Trump made a humiliating  economic error in front of South Korea’s president

President Trump just used a White House meeting with South Korean President Moon Jae-in to complain about the US–South Korean trade deficit, a perennial Trump talking point. The problem is that what he said isn't true..... Not that fake facts and phony figures are anything our Fearless Leader loses any sleep over. ...

Trump’s Election  Investigation Is Already Facing Trouble

President Trump’s commission on election integrity is facing significant hurdles, as multiple state election officials have said they will not comply with the panel’s request this week for specific, sensitive voter information (including social security numbers). Even some Republican officials have said that they may be opposed....

Has Trump ever met an  autocrat he didn't like? Trump waddles and tweets like an autocrat, and thinks he  is  beyond the law. And certainly doesn't give a sh*t about the voters, most of whom never voted for him...

Trump's next attack on democracy: mass voter suppression

The most important aspect of any democratic election is participation. A democracy gains its legitimacy through elections only so far as those elections represent the will of the people. Limit voter participation, and there is a direct correlation between the legitimacy of an election and the democratic system. President Trump and Vice-President Pence’s “election integrity” commission is unequivocally declaring war on voters – our democratic legitimacy be damned.

The Dangerous  Simplicity of Donald Trump

Trump's travel ban  reflects a larger problem with his presidency.

President Donald Trump has always had a weakness for simple and fantastical fixes. Illegal immigration? Build a wall. Jobs moving overseas? Tax imports. Unemployment in Appalachia? Dig more coal. Rising medical costs? Repeal Obamacare. Trump’s gift for simple slogans served him well as a candidate. As president, however, it is failing him and endangering the country....

It’s time for a “determined response” to Pyongyang’s weapons programs, he said, standing alongside South Korean President Moon Jae-in.

Stop Assuming Trump Is  Innocent of Russian Collusion

TRUMP TELLS LOCAL IOWANS WHY HE PREFERS THE RICH

Do you really want a “poor person” in charge of anything?

....In the midst of a campaign-style rally in Cedar Falls, Iowa, during which he discussed agriculture and vocational training for farmers, Trump apparently decided that now was the time to be frank about his preference for only hiring the cartoonishly wealthy: men like former Goldman Sachs president Gary Cohn and wannabe 19th-century robber baron Wilbur Ross. Because at the end of the day, Trump explained, he doesn’t want “a poor person” in charge of the economy.”

A TOP V.C. EXPLAINS HOW TRUMPCARE WOULD TRADE LIVES FOR TAX CUTS

Understanding the cruel  financial calculus at the heart of the Senate bill.

The Congressional Budget Office, everyone’s favorite nonpartisan federal scorekeeper, is officially out with its analysis of the Senate’s health-care bill, and the results aren’t pretty. An estimated 22 million people would drop or lose insurance coverage over the next decade, with 15 million becoming uninsured in the first year alone. The bill would cut nearly $800 billion from Medicaid, with coverage losses continuing beyond the C.B.O.’s 10-year reporting window. Premiums would spike for the elderly and the poor, who C.B.O. predicts would simply not purchase insurance at all. Deductibles would skyrocket.”

And guess who gets the $541+ billion plus tax cuts over the next ten years....
