Trump jokes that North Korea’s threats will boost tourism to Guam
In a recorded phone call
to Guam Gov. Eddie Calvo, the president tried to reassure the
residents of the island, saying, “We are with you 1000
percent….Don’t worry about a thing.” Trump went on to
congratulate Calvo for “becoming extremely famous”, adding, “All
over the world they’re talking about Guam.” “Tourism - I can say
this - you’re going to go up ten-fold, with the expenditure of no
money….It just looks like a beautiful place.”
While Trump maintained a
lighthearted tone, Guam’s Office of Civil Defense started passing
out flyers on Friday to help residents prepare for a missile attack
from North Korea.
